although first recorded football match in whitstable in 1885, first record of whitstable town s existence following year. after couple of years playing in field behind railway station, club relocated belmont ground in 1888, play day.


in 1909 oystermen joined original kent league, played until folded in 1959, winning division 2 title 3 times. lifted kent amateur cup (now kent senior trophy) in 1929. after collapse of kent league, club played while in aetolian league, meant long trips play london teams opposed earlier money-spinning east kent derbies, , period of financial struggle club, dropped amateur leagues number of years.


in late 1960s kent league reformed, oystermen among founder members. attracted national publicity in 1989 when striker gerry allen scored goal after 4 seconds of match.


they had remained members of kent league until promotion isthmian league in 2007. 2006–07 season marked best in club’s history when supporter tony rouse took on chairman long time servant of club joe brownett. rouse appointed first team captain marc seager club’s manager taking on matt toms. under marc seager’s leadership team won kent league , kent senior trophy.


in 2012 former local referee gary johnson took on chairman joe brownett (after second spell in chair) stepped down after many years @ whitstable town.
