houston

jefferson davis hospital built on confederate graveyard , operated 1924–1938. building saw many government uses after that, converted artist lofts in 2004 after being listed on national register of historic places , designated heritage landmark preserved in perpetuity. hospital named jefferson davis, former president of confederacy, in honor of confederate soldiers had been buried in cemetery , means console families of deceased.
a second jefferson davis hospital operated several miles away on allen parkway 1938 1999, when demolished.
