on 25 may 2007 szeto wah speaking in mong kok pedestrianised street hosted citizen s radio. topic of programme involved tiananmen square protests of 1989.


charges

eight people including szeto wah prosecuted. according summons, szeto using unlicensed radio equipment when delivering political message. chief executive or director general of telecommunications authority have power approve licences such equipment.


selective prosecution

szeto said discriminated against event, , had appeared on same station before without being charged. other members have spoken on radio station included anthony cheung bing leung , legislator choy so-yuk of pro-beijing democratic alliance betterment of hong kong. not charged. leung kwok-hung (longhair) added selective prosecution . mak yin-ting (麥燕婷), general secretary of hong kong journalists association have said subject government discretion. government can grant or deny license long wishes. not in accordance rule of law.

the latest case follows ongoing lawsuit in tsang , leung arguing telecommunications ordinance, granting of broadcasting licences, unconstitutional.
