hickman joined panini comics doctor magazine assistant editor alan barnes in 2000 , ascended editor in january 2002 until august 2007. period saw return of doctor regular television production , many necessary changes 25-year-old magazine. preparing twice-yearly special editions dwm, between 2005 , 2009 hickman editor of panini s annual publication doctor storybook. hickman oversaw creation of company s range of doctor graphic novels, on worked editor , designer first 10 volumes. in 2010, cancellation of storybook, hickman approached bbc books edit new, lavish hardback christmas market – brilliant book of doctor 2011. book sold , fetched excellent reviews on market. later asked produce 2012 volume.
