the pacific telephone & telegraph company, local telephone company in san francisco bay area, purchased naming rights park $50 million on 24 years in winter of 1996. pacific bell had been purchased sbc communications when naming rights deal agreed upon. sbc dropped pacific bell name , reached agreement giants change stadium s name sbc park on january 1, 2004.


after sbc bought at&t corporation on november 18, 2005, name of merged company became at&t inc. result, stadium given third name in 6 years: at&t park . few fans still refer stadium pac bell park , first name given stadium. others have named stadium phone booth or telephone park , constant name changes, while referred stadium big corporation park due sbc years. referred ballpark named later. others yet refer mays field in honor of giants great willie mays or bell . many refer stadium china basin or mccovey cove after location, immune changes in sponsorship naming.
