great-granddaughter of mo, gabrielle mcentee-wilson recalls in interview granny mo saying (in regards mo s popularity) hippies discovered mo s during sixties. according mcentee-wilson (mo s) wasn t concept—it grew on own , changed on time.

the original newport mo s has unusual front wall restaurant. 1 day customer accidentally left car in forward gear instead of reverse while leaving , crashed through front wall. mo saw humor in situation, , consoled distraught woman, saying, well, ll put in garage door can open , can drive in anytime if s want . on warm sunny days door opened transforming mo s sidewalk cafe. door itself, pictured @ right, remains unchanged since installation , features picture on interior showing woman driving car through door, alarmed on face.
