scimeca teamed chris knierim in april 2012. train in colorado springs, colorado under coaches dalilah sappenfield , larry ibarra.

2012–13 2013–14

the pair won gold @ first international event, 2012 coupe de nice. after number of withdrawals other teams, received grand prix assignment, 2012 nhk trophy, finished fourth.

scimeca/knierim won silver medal @ 2013 u.s. championships. assigned 2013 4 continents championships withdrew before event — scimeca injured right foot in practice. scimeca/knierim named u.s. team 2013 world championships after caydee denney / john coughlin withdrew. placed ninth in world championships debut.

2014–15 season

scimeca/knierim won gold medal in first isu challenger series event @ 2014 u.s. international figure skating classic , won bronze medal @ 2014 nebelhorn trophy. assigned 2 grand prix events, placing fourth @ both 2014 skate america , 2014 trophée Éric bompard.

at 2015 u.s. championships, scimeca/knierim captured first national title, setting new u.s. record scores in both short program , free skate. became first american pair team perform quadruple twist in competition.

at 2015 4 continents championships, scimeca/knierim placed fifth , earned new isu personal best scores of 124.44 in free skate , 187.98 total, setting new records highest scores ever achieved u.s. pair team in international event. @ 2015 world championships, pair placed seventh. competed @ 2015 world team trophy, finishing fourth in short program , third in free skate, helped team usa win gold medal. scimeca/knierim earned new personal best scores of 127.87 in free skate , 192.09 total, setting new records once again highest scores ever recorded u.s. pair team in international competition.

2015–16 season

scimeca/knierim began season @ 2015 nebelhorn trophy won silver medal behind reigning olympic champions tatiana volosozhar / maxim trankov. team competed @ 2015 skate america won silver medal. earned new personal best short program score of 69.69, setting new record highest score ever achieved u.s. pair team in international competition. following week, won gold medal @ 2015 ice challenge in graz, austria.

scimeca/knierim went on win bronze medal @ 2015 nhk trophy helped qualify them 2015–16 grand prix final in barcelona, placed seventh. first u.s. pair since 2007 qualify grand prix final. pair entered 2016 u.s. championships heavy favorite title, won silver medal after costly errors.

at 2016 4 continents championships, scimeca/knierim won silver medal in best competitive outing date. earned new personal best scores of 140.35 in free skate , 207.96 total, highest scores ever recorded u.s. pair team in international competition. subsequent injury knierim limited team s training before 2016 world championships, placed 9th. 7th in short program personal best score of 71.37, set new record highest score ever achieved u.s. pair team in international competition. pair competed team north america @ inaugural 2016 kosÉ team challenge cup, team won gold medal.

2016–17 season

scimeca knierim began feel sick in april 2016, , illness interrupted scimeca knierim/knierim s training throughout summer months. diagnosed rare, life-threatening gastrointestinal condition in august , underwent 2 abdominal surgeries month. pair resumed light training in late september. scimeca knierim underwent additional surgery on november 1st , returned normal training middle of month.

scimeca knierim s illness involved regular episodes of vomiting, debilitating pain, difficulties sleeping, eating or drinking, significant weight loss. knierim stated when wife returned ice following surgery, had hold hand skate around in circles , skate 10 minutes before having go home nap because physically draining. pair withdrew both of grand prix events, 2016 rostelecom cup , 2016 cup of china, , 2017 u.s. championships. resumed full training in january , named u.s. team both 2017 4 continents championships , 2017 world championships.

in february, knierims made strong return competition @ 2017 4 continents championships, placed sixth in deep field of chinese , canadian pairs. total score second highest score ever achieved u.s. pair team, behind score 4 continents prior year. pair competed @ 2017 world championships, skated 2 strong programs , placed 10th in exceptionally deep field. 5th through 10th place separated 4.35 points. placed 8th in short program personal best score of 72.17, highest score ever achieved u.s. pair team. u.s. pair qualify free skate. total score of 202.37 second highest in u.s. pairs history, , u.s. pair have ever surpassed 200 point barrier. knierims fourth top 10 finish in 4 worlds appearances. u.s. pair in past 5 years have placed in top 10 @ world championships.
