kunalan first came running in 1963, @ age of 20. formerly football player, kunalan switched running when pe teacher commended him fast moving legs after noticing him running. participated in 1964 summer olympics part of malaysian 4 × 100 m relay team malaysian sprint legend mani jegathesan, , subsequently represented singapore after left federation.
kunalan has participated in 2 olympic games (tokyo, 1964 , mexico city, 1968) , has earned 5 asian games , 9 southeast asian peninsular games medals.
educator
c kunalan taught 6 years in tiong bahru primary school , thirteen years in dunearn secondary technical school before joining national institute of education in 1980. kunalan became assistant professor there. specialised in functional anatomy , exercise physiology, , conducted practical classes in fitness , conditioning. kunalan left institute in 2010.
