identified type bc on chassis, 130 coupé appeared in 1971 @ geneva motor show exhibiting new 2-door body , new interior. both exterior , interior styling work of paolo martin @ pininfarina. car won design prize, attributed pininfarina, , helped pininfarina begin new life after years relying on fiat 1800/peugeot 404/austin a60 concepts. pininfarina extended fiat 130 coupé line 2 proposals rejected fiat: maremma in 1974 (2-door shooting brake) , opera in 1975 (4-door saloon). paolo martin never got involved in these fiat 130 coupé variations, left company after design prize in 1971.


the seats shaped , designed paolo martin collaboration of giovanni gottin, specialist established in turin. dashboard redesigned sporty round dials, using white needles.

these cars improved in 1971, taking on board paolo martin innovations conceived coupé. steering column, dashboard, central console , ventilation identical coupé. seats, steering wheel , door panels improved, differently coupé. 1 can 1971 b version 1971 more refined version dating 1969. retrospectively, if 1 compares 130 big bmw , mercedes sedans, fiat 130 berlina type b may winner in terms of interior design , comfort elements. if 1 considering dynamic elements power , ride comfort, fiat 130 type b still lagging engine not blessed fuel injection (somewhat difficult start—depending on conditions), engine not have hydraulic self-adjusting valves, , engine not powerful enough. combines worryingly high fuel consumption. , lack of dash , lack of efficiency not compensated smooth ride.
