on march 2, 1987, philippine airlines flight 171 davao city damaged engine when landing aborted half dozen cows strayed on runway. plane had slowed down engine when pilot saw cows on runway. plane flew past cows , landed safely on second approach. 94 passengers of plane safe.
on may 3, 2006, cebu pacific flight 393, douglas dc-9 davao, on final approach on runway 27 @ 9:15 am. after touchdown, left main gear of aircraft burst. 100 passengers safe, aircraft stuck on runway. because of this, airport closed 23 hours. air philippines flights zamboanga canceled, philippine airlines afternoon flights , zamboanga , cebu pacific flights manila. south east asian airlines flight jolo land in zamboanga ordered go due incident. cebu pacific zamboanga office advised manila office problem, sending 2 new landing gears zamboanga. however, since aircraft stuck on runway, plane going deliver planes gear landed @ pagadian airport , helicopters of philippine air force delivered landing gears airport. next day, aircraft removed runway , normal airport operations resumed. due incident, philippine airlines , air philippines forced hold special flights.
on december 28, 2006, philippine air force assault helicopter crashed during emergency landing thursday on airport s runway. pilots of rocket-firing mg520 helicopter, used against al-qaeda-linked militants , communist guerrillas, on routine maintenance flight when decided make emergency landing still-unclear reasons. mg530 damaged , 2 pilots injured , shaken crash landing.
on august 5, 2010, bombing incident occurred upon arrival of sulu governor abdulsakur tan, main target of terrorists, manila @ 6:00pm. incident killed 2 people , several hurt, including tan. incident prompted representative beng climaco make proposal relocate airport new site cost php 9 billion.
on march 9, 2011, philippine airlines flight pr-124 bound manila scheduled depart @ 6:55 turning take off when left wheel fell off concrete runway , got stuck in mud. 90 passengers safely disembarked aircraft , returned pre-departure area.
