(french pronunciation: ​[ɡʁɑ̃ ʒəte]) long horizontal jump, starting 1 leg , landing on other. known split in air. done forward , involves doing full leg splits in mid-air. consists of grand écart moving jump. front leg brushes straight air in grand battement, opposed développé (or unfolding motion). leg follows making splits in air. can performed en avant (forward), à la seconde (to side), en arrière (backward), , en tournant (turning en dedans). dancer must remember hit fullest split @ height of jump, weight pushed forward, giving dancer gliding appearance.
