ganapati yadav born on 14 september 1952 @ arjunwada, small village in radhanagari tehsil in kolhapur district of western indian state of maharashtra dadasaheb krishnaji–rukmini couple , did education @ local school in village till class vii , later @ kolhapur till class xi. joining university department of chemical technology (udct) of bombay university in 1970, graduated in chemical engineering in 1974 , started career @ institution faculty member. simultaneously, continued doctoral studies under supervision of renowned chemical engineer, man mohan sharma, secure phd in 1980. later, served @ loughborough university of technology, uk leverhulme fellow (1980–81) , university of waterloo, ontario natural sciences , engineering research council fellow (1982–86),johansen crosby visiting chair professor of chemical engineering, michigan state university (2001-02) , distinguished visiting scholar, asian initiative of purdue university president (2007), distinguished visiting professor lunghwa university of science , technology, taiwan. returning udct, served in various capacities such of darbari seth professor of inorganic chemical technology (1996–2009), head of department od chemical engineering (2006–09), director , r. t. mody distinguished professor of chemical technology (since 2009) , sitting vice chancellor of institution has since been renamed institute of chemical technology , deemed university since 2008.

yadav married vasanti veeraraghavan iyer , couple has 2 sons, vikramaditya , gautam. family lives in mumbai.
