antitrust lawsuit against cisco systems

on december 1, 2008, multiven. filed antitrust lawsuit against cisco systems, inc. in effort open network maintenance services marketplace cisco equipment, promote competition , ensure consumer choice , value. multiven’s complaint alleges cisco harmed multiven , consumers bundling , tying bug fixes/patches , updates operating system software maintenance services (“smartnet”) , through series of other illegal exclusionary , anticompetitive acts designed maintain cisco’s alleged monopoly in network maintenance services market cisco networking equipment.

cisco in turn accused multiven ceo peter alfred-adekeye of illegal access cisco material using cisco id. alfred-adekeye naturalised british citizen, resident of zurich, , former cisco employee. after several months in authorities prevented entry country participation in litigation, special hearing in case took place @ canadian hotel on 20 may 2010, involving special master , 4 cisco lawyers. arrested court session canadian police based on misleading arrest warrant.


alfred-adekeye released after 28 days in custody forced remain in canada year before allowed return zurich. in june 2011, canadian judge stayed extradition, ruling strict standard of extraordinary misconduct met circumstances , speaking of audacity of , of cisco s duplicity , , shocking act of preventing s participation in judicial proceeding arresting them supposedly force them participate. false material in attorney s letter had misled judge signed canadian arrest warrant. grotesquely inflated charges , unjustified portrayal of alfred-adekeye nigerian-born scam artist , flight risk had misled canadian judicial system further. underlying civil case multiven against cisco had been withheld them.
