after cards dealt , trump , contracts established, there 13 game rounds, in each player puts down card , player puts down strongest card takes trick.
putting down cards
in first game round, first put down card winner of first bid, next player left, , on. in subsequent rounds, winner of previous round plays first. first player of round allowed put down of cards , other players must follow suit (put down cards of same suit). if player doesn t have cards of same suit, may put down other card has. if player have cards of same suit, puts down cards of suit, , later caught (he have put down cards eventually) fined 100 points. if player doesn t have cards of same suit, may put down card not of trump suit, , surely loses trick, or may cut (put down trump card).
who takes trick
after 4 cards have been put down, winner of trick determined, highest card of suit started round wins, unless trump cards put down, , in case, strongest trump wins. player win trick 1 start next round. when playing no trump (nt), rules same, there no option cut, player not have leading suit loses trick sure.

an example round (diamond trump): player leads 9♣, player b q♣, player c 7♦, player d 8♣. notice player c has no clubs, or else have put down club, has 2 options: rid of card not trump, or try win trick trump. player d had clubs, had put down club , not put down trump, , player c wins trick.
