frappé


(french pronunciation: ​[fʁape]; struck. ) abbreviation of battement frappé. action of extending working foot out cou-de-pied. in cecchetti, rad, , american ballet, on flat, action involves brushing flexed (or non-pointed relaxed) foot cou-de-pied through floor, ball of foot (lightly) striking extending out pointed through dégagé. in russian school, pointed foot @ cou-de-pied extends directly out dégagé height without brushing through floor. on demi-pointe, cecchetti employs russian style of non-brushed pointed foot directly out. other schools may use flexed foot without strike or non-brushed pointed foot on demi-pointe.


frappés commonly done in singles, doubles, or triples. double , triple frappés involve tapping foot (flexed or pointed) @ both cou-de-pied devant (or wrapped) , derrière before extending out. (e.g. double frappé front cou-de-pied back, cou-de-pied front, dégagé front. double frappé front, back, [dégagé] back. triple frappé front front, back, front, [dégagé] front.)
