Collective Helicopter flight controls

the collective pitch control, or collective lever, located on left side of pilot s seat adjustable friction control prevent inadvertent movement. collective changes pitch angle of main rotor blades collectively (i.e., @ same time) , independent of position. therefore, if collective input made, blades change equally, , result, the helicopter increases or decreases total lift derived rotor. in level flight cause climb or descent, while helicopter pitched forward increase in total lift produce acceleration given amount of ascent.
the collective pitch control in boeing ch-47 chinook called thrust control, serves same purpose, except controls 2 rotor systems, applying differential collective pitch.
