the united macedonians organization continues fulfill cultural , political needs of macedonian communities in north america. holds annual cultural events such ilinden picnic, goce night banquet - annual gathering commemorating birth of macedonian revolutionary goce delchev, church events, , festivals. in february 2009, prime minister of canada, right honorable stepphen harper attended 50th anniversary celebration of united macedonians organization, welcomed guest of honor.


the organization owner of ilinden park , 30-acre (120,000 m) lot in whitby, ontario. in 1979, umo built war memorial dedicated canada s unknown soldier , lost lives fighting liberty of macedonia. memorial made of granite , located near st. clement of ohrid macedonian orthodox church in toronto. organization publisher of macedonian herald, macedonian-canadian quarterly newspaper.


according umo committee, membership open macedonians born in ethnic macedonia, descendants , spouses need not of macedonian descent, without distinction sex, religion or political beliefs, , agree mission , goals of organization.
