mikhail bulgakov, famous kiev-born russian writer, , family lived on street @ 2 different houses in early-20th century. in bulgakov s novel white guard author vividly describes street , house (he calls aleksey descent - alekseevskiy spusk ) in turbulent times of 1917 russian revolution. address, @ no.13 andriyivskyy descent still commonly called bulgakov house , displays plaque address writer used in book (no.13 alekseevsky spusk) (see image). popular writer s statue installed near museum.


a museum opened inside preserved building mark 100th birthday of mikhail bulgakov on may 15, 1991. upper floor of museum houses exhibition of various bulgakov objects, , lower floor contains thematic exhibitions. house, built in 1888 , designed architect n. gardenin, thoroughly renovated before opening of museum. memorial plaque bulgakov s portrait hanging on front of building.
