wright turned 80 shortly after world war ii ended, yet remained busy. solomon r. guggenheim museum in new york city occupied wright 16 years (1943–1959) , recognized masterpiece. building rises warm beige spiral site on fifth avenue; interior similar inside of seashell. unique central geometry meant allow visitors experience guggenheim s collection of nonobjective geometric paintings taking elevator top level , viewing artworks walking down descending, central spiral ramp, floor of embedded circular shapes , triangular light fixtures complement geometric nature of structure. however, when museum completed, number of details of wright s design ignored, such desire interior painted off-white.



wright s price tower in bartlesville, oklahoma


the realized skyscraper designed wright price tower, 19-story tower in bartlesville, oklahoma. 1 of 2 existing vertically oriented wright structures (the other s.c. johnson wax research tower in racine, wisconsin). price tower commissioned harold c. price of h. c. price company, local oil pipeline , chemical firm. opened public in february 1956. on march 29, 2007, price tower designated national historic landmark united states department of interior, 1 of 20 such properties in state of oklahoma.


monona terrace, designed in 1937 municipal offices madison, wisconsin, completed in 1997 on original site, using variation of wright s final design exterior interior design altered new purpose convention center. as-built design carried out wright s apprentice tony puttnam. monona terrace accompanied controversy throughout 60 years between original design , completion of structure.


florida southern college, located in lakeland, florida, constructed 12 (out of 18 planned) frank lloyd wright buildings between 1941 , 1958 part of child of sun project. world s largest single-site collection of frank lloyd wright architecture.


in 2007 house design wright completed shortly before death in 1959 realized in energy-efficient form in republic of ireland.
