since december 2009, offices of peres center peace housed in peres peace house in ajami, largely arab neighborhood of jaffa.


the peres peace house contains shimon peres archives, auditorium , conference rooms, , conflict resolution library. many of peres center s activities, including public lectures , coexistence activities, take place within peres peace house, activities empowerment , development of local jaffa communities. these include legal aid services, community empowerment programs , mentoring program underprivileged children.


the cost of center estimated @ $6 million , timeline of 3 years. according haaretz, of august 2009, cost , building time of peace house have been highly underestimated. center opened in december 2009. building (2,500 sq m), distinctive architectural landmark on jaffa coast next poor arab neighborhood of ajami, designed renowned italian architect massimiliano fuksas.


through years building open use of local arab community , center promoted projects empower local groups , individuals. first event held @ building graduation ceremony of 21 women, arab graduated women s economic empowerment program , received computer technician certificates.


over years center has won both negative , positive critiques. author witt raczka questioned efficacy of organization, while israeli peace activist jonathan kis-lev praised peres center peace in book quest peace .
