tinódi s chronicles siege of eger (1552)


little known tinódi s childhood. attended various schools , studied latin, , excelled @ sheet music. joined military service in 1535 , in 1539 wounded in battle, rendered him ineligible further military service. in 1541, when turks invaded, made big impression on him. became political poet @ time, works expressing need resist turks.


tinódi started family, , visited parliament , scenes of battles, , wrote poems these. began put poems music , performed them accompaniment of lute, led nickname, lantos - lute-player. songs became recognized important chronicalization of events of day tamás nádasdy in 1545, recommended parliament become public post tinódi. 1546 1551 there general period of peace, in 1552 new ottoman military campaign began, , again chronicled tinódi.


in 1553, formally recognized king chronicler processed historical events of age in poem form, , conferred patent of nobility. collected edition of works published in 1554. traveled transylvania while , returned in 1555, died shortly thereafter.
