programs

program names used define age or focus group specific program targets, space camp referring both camp program , parent organization. camp offers programs various ages , durations of visit. majority of attendees visit during summer, though spring , fall see many school group visits, parent , child bonding camps, , adult or corporate programs.

advanced space academy designed 15- 18-year-olds. program known space academy level ii , started in fall of 1987. in 1987 space academy level ii program college accredited (1 hour) through university of alabama huntsville. offered programs adults first class go through level ii adults. family camp program allows parents or guardians attend space camp child aged 7–12 years. program run throughout year, lasts 3 4 days, , includes activities in adult , child work together. family camp has aviation challenge option, designed children , accompanying adult, offered during summer months.

space camp offers scholarships kids disabilities, academic greatness, excellence in leadership, , financial needs or disadvantaged.


sci-vis

in cooperation teachers of visually impaired students, space camp operates week-long space camp interested visually impaired students providing same experience visually impaired students sighted students. adaptations made computer systems campers use in activities , simulations provide speech , large print output. adapted materials, including handbooks translated in braille, , equipment used during camp.


deaf space camp

in cooperation teachers, space camp operates week-long program deaf , hard of hearing students providing same experience hearing-impaired students hearing students. communication supported dedicated team of american sign language interpreters through visual , written media. allow equal access audio of films, museum & camp movies have open or closed captions; theater provides rear-window captioning system. augment or replace microphone/headset technology, students use live stream video between mission control , shuttle simulator.


in addition participating in typical camp activities , simulations, students have opportunity meet , interact deaf adults work in science-related fields , learn many contributions deaf individuals such annie jump cannon (astronomer), tsiolkovsky (considered of father of rocketry ), , dr. thomas wheeler (deaf nasa aerospace engineer) have made astronomy, space exploration , science education.


other programs

other programs include corporate programs, programs adults , educators , educational field-trip programs school groups, , x-camp outdoor leadership camp. there special alumni sessions during summer of 25th anniversary.


occasionally themed camps have been offered, in conjunction museum exhibits. during summer of 2010 jedi experience camp offered in connection museum traveling exhibit star wars: science meets imagination.


u.s. cyber camp announced in 2017, focuses on cyber security.


aviation challenge

aviation challenge, or ac, umbrella branding set of aviation oriented camps @ space camp, consisting of 3 main programs children ages 9–18. aviation oriented camp fundamental teaching aids computer based flight simulators, intended train attendees fly, act, , think united states air force, navy or marine fighter pilots.
