such retained fisher independent in 2002 election primary vote of 33.5 percent , final two-candidate-preferred vote of 62.1 percent on jeanes after receiving labor preferences. liberals had placed such in fifth place on ticket, behind labor candidate. after election, labor 1 short of majority liberals 3 short of majority, 3 elected independent mps , nationals sa mp holding balance of power on crossbench. kerin government ended when parliament resumed in march 2002, peter lewis choosing support labor government.

2014 election

such retained fisher @ 2014 election on decreased 9.4 percent margin. 2014 election resulted in hung parliament 23 labor seats, 22 liberal seats, , 2 independents. these 2 independents, such , geoff brock, held balance of power. such had not indicated whom support in minority government when, week after election, diagnosed brain tumour. subsequently took medical leave , hospitalised.


university of adelaide professor , political commentator clem mcintyre said absence of such virtually guaranteed brock labor – 24 seats required govern, brock duly provided support incumbent labor government, allowing premier jay weatherill continue in office head of minority government. mcintyre said:
