naturalis in leiden has 2 skins; 1 male (rmnh 110.061) , 1 female (rmnh 110.068). both individuals originate philip island. male skin acquired in 1863 long after species assumed disappearance, unknown how came leiden. more likely, given phillip island overrun feral pigs, rabbits, goats , chicken in late 1838, 1863 specimen purchased collection. single unsexed individual philip island @ zoölogisch museum amsterdam [1] (zma 3164) has been obtained before 1860, , originate same batch 2 specimens @ naturalis in leiden. old list of specimens of birds present in british museum of natural history list 2 individuals, both philip island. 1 of 2 specimens came bell s collection.
